I read the tweets, FB updates and blogs, looked at the twitpics and talked to my girlfriends about/during BlogHer.
Because I didn't go.
I did BlogHer vicariously, I defied the other Bob (Dylan), and I let my friend Paula get my kicks for me. And I know BlogHer was kickin'. I know our print/online publication, Mom Writers Literary Magazine, was well represented. I wish I could have met Paula, Heather, and Jen, and Megan, and so many others who have intrigued me in the blogosphere.
But I will another time. It's unbelievable to me how well I know some of these people, or understand them (and how well they understand me!), although we've never met face to face.
I have made some good blogging friends through Twitter and FB, and just by following the right links on other people's blogs.
I follow blogs of women that sound exactly like me. I follow blogs of women whose convictions are opposite my own, but I appreciate them all the same. I follow blogs of foodies, writers, moms, dads, beach freaks, baseball fans.
My life has been enriched this way.
Maybe one day I will get to a blogging conference (we chose to spend our budgeted vacation money this year to someplace we wouldn't have to fly to, where we could all be together).
But for now, I'll just have to keep reaching people the way I have only recently learned how. I can't say that I am dissatisfied with my blogging life right now. Propeller Head Mom gifted me with the One Lovely Blog Award this morning and my Monday got off to a fabulous start.
